Our in-person and virtual Financial Wellness workshops will teach you strategies for building a healthier mindset around finances, managing money, setting financial goals, building credit, and more.
We welcome participants who are interested in improving their personal management of their finances, and are residents of Southeast Alaska.
These workshops are also open to Sealaska shareholders living outside Southeast Alaska.
We especially encourage applications from individuals who are Indigenous, Black, people of color, and/or those who are located in rural Alaska (outside of Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka).
Participants must be committed to being fully present during the workshop.
This workshop will cover topics from mastering budgeting basics, creating clean financial goals, navigating the complexities of credit and debt, and more.
You will learn:
- How to build a budget that works for your needs and goals.
- How to make informed financial decisions based on your personal financial situation and values.
- Strategies to get out of debt and to utilize credit.
- Recognize spending habits and patterns that are in misalignment with your financial goal
Eligibility
We welcome anyone looking to improve their ability to manage their finances, find areas to cut spending, eliminate debt and improve their overall money mindset.
Financial Wellness workshops are open to all Southeast Alaskan residents and/or Sealaska shareholders.
We especially encourage registrants who are Indigenous, Black, people of color, and those who are located in rural Southeast Alaska, but can attend in-person.
Cost
The cost of this workshop is $25, with an optional fee waiver for anyone for whom cost may be a barrier. Please email grow@spruceroot.org to request a waiver.

Financial Wellness Coaching

Financial Wellness one-on-one coaching offers free personalized guidance tailored to your financial goals and needs. From mastering budgeting basics to navigating the complexities of credit and debt, our coaching equips you with the knowledge and tools to confidently manage your finances and build a financially secure future.
What is Financial Wellness?

When and where will the workshop take place?
The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. November 13-14 virtually via Zoom. Participants calling in from outside of Alaska should check the time difference and plan accordingly. For future workshops, please continue to keep an eye out for our social media posts and on our website at www.spruceroot.org/financialwellness. Exact workshop times are subject to change.
What will I need to participate in the workshop?
Participants will need a computer with a reliable internet connection and video/microphone capabilities. We will ask you to log-in on your computer and to have your video turned on throughout the training sessions. You may wish to use a headset with a microphone that connects to your computer if it’s available. You will need to call in from a quiet, distraction-free place from which you can unmute yourself and participate in the training, a notepad and pen, and a commitment to attending and being fully present during ALL of the workshop sessions.
How much does the workshop cost?
This workshop costs $25.00. The fee will be collected after your registration has been completed, and will be payable via Paypal or by check. Any applicant that finds the fee to be a financial burden may request a waiver by emailing grow@spruceroot.org.
Will session recordings be available for those who are interested but don’t have the time to participate?
We may make some recordings available after the session. This workshop takes place several times a year, so if you are unable to attend at this time, keep an eye out for future iterations by following us on Facebook or signing up for email updates.
