The Spruce Root team enjoys many outdoor summer activities including hiking, boating and subsistence gathering.

In addition, the City and Borough of Yakutat Planning Commission encourages Yakutat residents to take a community planning survey to inform the direction of the community for the next 10 years.

Nyah Kaash'kanee Martin joins the Spruce Root team as our 2023 summer Sealaska intern.
Nyah grew up in Juneau, Alaska, and Florida and is she is T’akdeintaan from X’aakw Hit and a child of the Wooshkeetaan.
Nyah previously served as a summer intern for Sealaska Heritage Institute the last two summers, and is studying economics and journalism/media communications at Colorado State University.

Yakutat residents asked to help shape your community's future
The Planning Commission of the City and Borough of Yakutat (CBY) is developing a comprehensive community plan that will inform the direction of the community for the next 10 years.
CBY seeks input from all residents of Yakutat. Your ideas are needed to ensure the plan reflects the experiences, opinions and priorities of residents.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
The survey is open until August 7.
All answers will be analyzed collectively and will not be attributed to individual respondents.
