End of February is brrrrr-ight

Someone seriously turned the thermostat down in Southeast Alaska, because it has been chilly.
But Spruce Root and the Sustainable Southeast Network are bringing the heat in terms of deploying services and business financing across the region.
We hope you stayed warm this February. Grab a cozy blanket, a cup of hot chocolate, and snuggle up with our latest newsletter.

Mariculture conference brings together scientists, kelp and oyster farmers
|
|
Earlier February, Spruce Root staff joined partners from Kake, Metlakatla, the Native Conservancy and Ecotrust, in attending the 2023 Alaska Mariculture Conference in Juneau.
Sponsored by the Alaska Mariculture Alliance, the conference brought together kelp and oyster farmers, processors, scientists and food manufacturers.
After attending the conference, we are even more committed to helping Southeast Alaska's Indigenous communities reap the full benefit of the emerging kelp industry, while retaining their ancestral waters and tidelands.
