Reflecting on a great year of serving Southeast Alaska

Well, we made it. Another year in the books. And it's a big one for us -- celebrating our 10-year anniversary.

A lot has changed in 10 years. Some of our staff have moved on. We added new team members -- but the mission has stayed true to Southeast Alaska -- and we couldn't be prouder of its communities and the people we've collaborated with over the years.

As we reflect on 2022 and our 10 years of service, we look forward to 2023 and all the possibilities it holds.

(Also thank you
Pat Race for designing an amazing 10-year anniversary logo)

Our offices will be closed Dec. 23-Jan. 2

We also wanted to send one last email before the new year to tell you that our offices will be closed Friday, December 23, 2022, through Monday, January 2, 2023.

We can still be reached via phone and email in the event of an emergency, but we're all really excited to have some time off to spend with families and communities.

We hope you have a safe and happy new year!

Marc Wheeler joins the Spruce Root team

We are excited to welcome longtime Juneau entrepreneur Marc Wheeler to the Spruce Root team.

Marc will be joining our team as the Program Manager for Technical Assistance (Path to Prosperity) and will offer his years of experience in the small business world in providing one-on-one coaching and group training to Southeast Alaskan small business owners.

Marc and his wife Jessica Paris recently sold their business, Coppa, to long-time employee Maddie Kombrink.

"Having participated in the Path to Prosperity program when we were just starting our business, it feels like coming home to join the Spruce Root team," Wheeler said. "Iʼm really looking forward to working with folks in villages across the region to help them grown local economies while talking care of people and the planet."

Announcement of Path to Prosperity Business Competition winners coming in early 2023!

STAY TUNED! We will be announcing the two $25,000 winners of the Path to Prosperity Business Competition in early 2023!

The finalists in this year’s regenerative tourism-focused competition have been hard at work over the past few months crafting their final submissions, which are comprised of financial projections, a video pitch, and a business plan.

We applaud their hard work!
Thank you to all our partners, supporters, donors and communities for continuing to share in our vision for the region!
