Alaska Soles draws from Reine Pavlik’s Tlingit ancestry in both philosophy and design. Alaska Soles makes a variety of wearable garments and accessories using biodegradable and up-cycled fabrics.

Chilkat Valley news, Rashah McChesney, Haines & Klukwan

The Chilkat Valley News provides professional reporting on the things that matter to the 2300 residents of the Chilkat Valley. The team at CVN delivers print and digital news with a focus on the needs of the people of the communities we serve and not those in power or special interests.

 

Malo Niśta CaterinG, Anthony Travis Kukull, Haines

Malo Niśta means "Little Nothing," in Croatian. This is a reference to the first generation of my family who settled in Malo, Washington and jokingly and lovingly called it "Malo Niśta." I am only here today because of my family and their ability to survive through the Spanish flu, the Great depression, and many more hardships. I do my best to emulate this lifestyle here in Haines in both my personal and my business life.

 

Miner’s Gold, RaeAnn Miner, Haines

Miner’s Gold is a small business serving the Haines community. We offer snow plowing, firewood, and local fresh free-range chicken eggs.

 

Natural Connections, Diana Katherine Portner, Juneau

Natural Connections offers nature-based counseling services, combining mental health counseling with wilderness therapy to leverage the therapeutic benefits of nature. Our services, offered year-round, include individual and group counseling sessions that incorporate outdoor activities, aiming to connect people with nature to improve mental health and wellbeing.

 

Pure Alaskan Water, Lonnie Guthrie, Ketchikan

Pure Alaskan Water is a water bottling company. We distribute water all over Alaska. In addition, we have a store where individuals can fill their own water needs, and purchase any additional water related products.

 

Raven's Nest Regalia and Art, Debra O’Gara, Petersburg

Raven's Nest Regalia and Art creates northwest coast and Tlingit art that can be worn as regalia or displayed in your homes. Dzijúksuk specializes in Ravenstail, Chilkat and cedar bark weavings and regalia; dancing button robes and vests; and is available for small classes in weaving, sewing and beading various regalia items.

 

Sitkana, Lance McMullan, Juneau

Sitkana is a manufacturing company producing hydrokinetic energy devices that act like underwater wind turbines; they create electricity when they spin in the flowing water. These devices will help the people of Southeast Alaska transition away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy.

 

Southeast Sparks, Benjamin Joseph Matthys, Sitka

Southeast Sparks is a marine electrical services company that will serve the fishing fleet in Sitka and through southeast Alaska and will provide services installing energy and efficiency technologies in fishing vessels. Southeast Sparks will decarbonize the fishing fleet and maritime sector through vessel efficiency modifications and will share vessel case studies with the public and potential customers.

 

Triple S Ranch, Dawn Sheets, Naukati Bay

Triple S Ranch aims to enhance the physical and psychological well-being of Prince of Wales Island residents by providing opportunities to meet and ride horses. As the only equestrian facility in the region, we offer accessible lessons both at our location and in nearby towns.

 

Wildfish Cannery, Aurora Owen, Klawock

Wildfish was founded in 1987 by Phyllis Meuller, the local school bookkeeper who saw the community's need for custom seafood processing. Today, the reins are held by Phyllis's grandson, Chef Mathew Scaletta, who is dedicated to melding his fine-dining background with his family’s craft.
