Thursday, May 26 | 7-8 pm
We're excited to invite you to an evening of storytelling to celebrate our extraordinary community and the 10 years we’ve spent building regenerative economies in Southeast Alaska.
So, grab your favorite beverage, settle into your couch, and tune in for a night to remember. We can’t wait to see you there!
Want to support our work for the next 10 years in Southeast Alaska?
A little history:
In 2012, a seed for community economic development was planted in Southeast Alaska. Spruce Root, Inc (formerly Haa Aaní Community Development Fund) was born out of Sealaska to make direct resource investment in communities, and promote the cultural, social, and economic viability of our Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian communities.
Fast forward to the present day, 10 years later, we have built relationships and trust in communities, learned many lessons along the way, and expanded our programs to address community priorities.
There is much to be proud of, but some highlights include deploying of over $1.5M in lending capital to Southeast Entrepreneurs, supporting food sovereignty through the Plants as Food and Medicine Symposium, developing Tribal economic development strategies, overseeing and fundraising for The Seacoast Trust, administration of the Sustainable Southeast Partnership, and provision of technical assistance services for entrepreneurs.
We have increased our numbers from a team of one to a bustling team of eleven (and are still growing!) Throughout all of this time and expansion, our work has remained rooted in what matters most: building resilient and equitable Southeast Alaskan communities.
