Sealaska Heritage Institute Business Basics for artists

January 31 - February 2 via zoom

Join other artists for this fun, interactive workshop designed for early-stage, art-based entrepreneurs. The workshop will cover marketing, pricing, financial projections, branding, customer discovery, business planning, licensing, and more. This workshop will be held Jan 31 to Feb 2 online from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day via Zoom.

Priority for registration will be given to Alaska Native artists; all are encouraged to apply. This course has a $25 registration fee; we kindly ask you to fill out this registration form by January 21. If the fee is in any way a barrier to your participation, please email grow@spruceroot.org to request a waiver before filling out this application. Apply here!

BUSINESS BASICS ONLINE

This entirely self-paced course will teach you the essentials of running a thriving business. By completing this 3-hour course, you will learn how to create a simplified business plan, budget for start-up expenses, calculate financial projections, gain an understanding of marketing, customer discovery, and business licenses and taxes. To complete the course, users must have access to a personal computer with internet access and be able to use Google documents and sheets. Users in need of a computer may contact Spruce Root for assistance.

Those who consider the workshop fee to be a barrier to their participation may reach out to grow@spruceroot.org to request a waiver. To be eligible for the fee waiver, the business operation is/will be primarily located in Southeast Alaska, OR is owned by a Sealaska shareholder or Tlingit & Haida Tribal citizen, regardless of location in the U.S.
